Company executives ponied up after 90% of United Auto Workers members rejected a previous offer Oct. 10, leading to the first strike of Deere in 35 years. After going back to the bargaining table with union leaders Oct. 18, Deere doubled its offer for wage increases and promised bigger retirement payments. The company will also continue its pension plan, a benefit the prior offer would have eliminated.
