Dennis most recently served as IWD’s bureau chief for disability services. He first joined the agency in 2020. He said with IVRS becoming a division of IWD, there is a possibility of offering a wider variety of workplace services to Iowans with disabilities seeking employment. “Our mission statement is ‘Serving Iowans.’ There’s no caveat – it doesn’t say ‘Iowans without a disability,’ or ‘Those in Des Moines instead of Creston,'” Dennis said in the announcement. “If we’re going to live up to that statement, we need to make sure that we’re including everyone. Every Iowan matters.” Dennis holds a degree in psychology from Georgia Southern University and is an adjunct instructor at Drake University’s counseling master’s degree program.
