The Des Moines Art Center has announced the appointment of Cindy Gerjets as senior director of people and culture, effective Dec. 18. In her new role, Gerjets will serve as a member of the Art Center’s executive leadership team and a strategic partner to the John and Mary Pappajohn Director Kelly Baum, overseeing the administration of all human resource-related operations. Gerjets has served in senior roles for the last 17 years at Liberty Bank, Holmes Murphy, Krause Group/Kum & Go, and most recently Maverik. Gerjets is joining the Art Center as it launches a new five-year strategic plan that prioritizes the development and stewardship of its almost 100 employees and enhancing an inclusive, equitable internal culture, according to a news release. “I am honored to join the Des Moines Art Center … during such an exciting and transformative time for the organization,” Gerjets said in a prepared statement. “The Art Center’s dedication to fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, inclusion, and building meaningful connections aligns perfectly with my passion for empowering people and cultivating engaging workplaces.”
