The company had a $49,500 contract with Drake University to control non-craft beer sales at the Knapp Center during the 2018 and 2019 basketball seasons. According to the bureau, Doll’s sponsorship with Drake excluded competitors, violating Federal Alcohol Administration Act rules. Last year, Doll’s chief competitor in Central Iowa received an even bigger fine related to a sponsorship agreement that gave Iowa Beverage Systems control of most beer sales at the Iowa State Fair Grandstand.
