The Des Moines City Council will be asked today to support state workforce housing tax credits for a townhouse project that has been proposed by David and Jody Walters’ M & R Holdings LLC for a vacant lot at 4209 Lower Beaver Road. The Walters are seeking an estimated $840,000 in tax credits for the $5.7 million project, which also would qualify for an estimated $768,315 under a six-year tax abatement program that applies to the area. Plans call for 38 owner-occupied townhome units on a nearly 6-acre site. The townhomes would be roughly 1,200 square feet in size and would include two-car garages and full basements, according to a report to the City Council.
