Des Moines was named one of the 10 most technologically advanced U.S. cities for its size, according to the 2010 Digital Cities Survey published by the Center for Digital Government.

The city came in at No. 10 in the midsize cities category, which encompasses cities with populations from 125,000 to 249,999.

Des Moines’ ranking was based on a redevelopment of the city’s website, development of a new neighborhood evaluation self-survey tool, formation of a Business Analysis Division and IT Governance Committee and use of Geographic Information System tools during the summer flooding, among other things.
