Des Moines Register names new publisher

131 wordsAll Latest News, Retail and BusinessDavid Chivers, an Iowa native with extensive experience in digital innovation, as well as marketing, audience and product development, was named president and publisher of The Des Moines Register and regional president of U.S. Community Publishing Central Group, the newspaper announced today.
Chivers, 39, has worked for business information and media brands, including The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s and MarketWatch. Most recently, he was chief digital officer at Jostens.
Prior to his role at Jostens, Chivers worked for Dow Jones in several positions, the Register reported. His career also includes time at the Meredith Corp. as director of online audience development.
Chivers’ appointment was announced to Register staff this morning. He will start May 4. Chivers succeeds Rick Green, who left in February to become president and publisher of the Cincinnati Enquirer.
