Des Moines school board again rejects stadium bids, delays project
Des Moines Register: For the second time this year, the Des Moines school board rejected bids on its shared stadium project with Drake University during its meeting Tuesday night. The stadium is slated to be built next to the Knapp Center. The district is expected to pay $15 million from a sales tax fund called SAVE (Secure an Advanced Vision for Education), and Drake plans to raise the remaining $4.5 million through private donations. In February, Des Moines Superintendent Tom Ahart asked the board to reject the original bids after they came in over budget.
