Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences appointed Beth Culross as the first director of its new Regional Simulation Center, which was announced in December 2023. Culross, who most recently served as director of the Learning Resource Center at the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s College of Nursing, will lead the development and operations of the simulation center, currently under construction and set to open in late fall 2025. The regional simulation center, located on DMU’s campus in downtown Des Moines, is designed to address critical health care workforce challenges. The 90,000-square-foot facility will feature the newest simulation technology and training spaces for health care education programs across Central Iowa. “Dr. Culross brings unparalleled expertise in simulation-based education and a deep commitment to advancing health care training,” Angela Franklin, DMU president and CEO, said in a prepared statement. “Her leadership will ensure that the regional simulation center becomes a national model for collaborative, high-impact health care education.”
