Dew Tour announces return to Des Moines
After helping to launch the opening of the Lauridsen Skatepark on the downtown riverfront last year, the Dew Tour pro skateboard competition has announced it will return to Des Moines and the skatepark this year. The event, a finals-only competition and a two-day festival, is scheduled for July 29-30. It is free and open to the public, and will feature the top men and women skaters in the world. It will also feature the return of the Battle of the Shops, highlighting regional skate shops that compete as a team against one another. Des Moines’ Subsect Skate Shop will be the local shop competing against other midwestern skate shops. In 2021, the Dew Tour served as the only U.S. Olympic qualifying event for the Tokyo Games. Greg Edwards, president and CEO of Catch Des Moines, said the community is excited to see the Dew Tour return for a second consecutive year. “Everyone was blown away with how it turned out last year, and this year we’ll have the full Dew Tour experience with no restrictions,” he said.
