Disability Rights Iowa receives $25,000 grant
Disability Rights Iowa (DRI) announced that it has been awarded a grant of $25,000 from the Principal Foundation. The grant will provide DRI with additional resources to continue implementing its strategic plan, which focuses on advocacy for the most significant disability-rights issues to Iowans with disabilities. DRI sought Principal Foundation funds to grow its capacity to provide additional advocacy and resources to all Iowans with disabilities, a news release said. The statewide nonprofit’s services include self-advocacy resources, individual legal and systems advocacy, referrals and technical assistance. “DRI works to address and remove disability rights barriers encountered by Iowans with disabilities. Through this work, DRI is creating change for Iowans with disabilities,” Catherine Johnson, executive director of DRI, said in a prepared statement. “By awarding DRI this generous grant, Principal Foundation has emphasized the importance of expanding our advocacy to even more Iowans with disabilities.”
