Des Moines Area Community College has hired John Andres as director of the Iowa Culinary Institute. In his new position, Andres will manage Culinary Arts as well as the DMACC Hotel and Restaurant Management programs. He worked as a sous chef at the Des Moines Wakonda Club and was executive chef and director of food and beverage services at the  Des Moines Renaissance Savery Hotel. Andres replaces Robert Anderson, who worked in the role for 43 years and built the Iowa Culinary Institute to national prominence and its high level of excellence. Andres says he wants to build upon ICI’s current reputation.
