Applications are open until April 15 for the Des Moines Fire Academy’s next class of firefighters, set to start in early 2025. Attendees will be trained and certified in emergency medical services, fire suppression and paramedic certifications during the paid academy. Benefits include a starting salary of $73,000, 5% paramedic bonus after certification and one year of employment, and opportunities for overtime pay.
