Des Moines Orthopaedic Surgeons has expanded its services by opening an Urgent Injury Walk-In Clinic in Ankeny. The clinic, located at the DMOS Orthopaedic Centers at 350 N.E. 36th St. that opened two years ago, is specifically designed to treat injuries such as acute adult and pediatric injuries (3 years of age and older); strains, sprains and minor dislocations; fractures; painful, swollen or injured joints; sudden onset of pain; and sports-related injuries. The clinic’s physicians are Dr. Joseph Brunkhorst, Dr. Mark Isaacson and Dr. Paul Butler. “With continued growth in Ankeny in recent years we feel an urgent injury clinic fills a community need for patients with an injury that cannot wait 7 – 10 days to be seen,” Isaacson said in a news release. “We are especially excited about the opening of this clinic because our sports community is so extensive in Ankeny. The faster these athletes are seen the faster recovery starts.” The clinic’s initial hours are every Monday from 7 to 11 a.m.; Thursday 4-8 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to noon. “We fully intend to extend these hours based on the needs of our community,” Butler said. “We are opening this clinic conservatively to start but anticipate the needs of our patients to dictate an expansion of days and hours in the coming months.”
