Des Moines University has hired Marc Wachtfogel as chief human resources officer and a member of its executive leadership team. His first day of work at the medicine and health sciences institution will be Aug. 17. Wachtfogel succeeds Becky Lade, who held the chief human resources officer post since 2014. Lade joined DMU in 1986 and led the university’s human resources operation since becoming director of human resources in 1994. Her last day was July 31. Wachtfogel most recently was director and chief human resources officer at Minot State University in Minot, N.D. Earlier in his career, he held senior leadership roles within the private sector in New York, where he worked with diverse teams to implement strategic change initiatives for some of the world’s top companies. “Marc brings a wealth of experience to his new role of providing strategic leadership in the planning and implementation of quality-based, integrated human resources programs for all faculty and staff of DMU,” said Angela Walker Franklin, DMU’s president and CEO. Wachtfogel holds a doctorate degree in Business Education from New York University. He earned a master’s degree from the Rutgers School of Management and Labor Relations and his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University.
