The Iowa Architectural Foundation (IAF) has announced its “Build the Future!” fundraising campaign in which, for a limited time, each donor to the foundation’s Architecture in the Schools program will receive free instructions to build a Lego version of the Des Moines skyline. Joe Feldmann, an associate principal at OPN Architects who created a model of Des Moines’ skyline in Legos, donated the exclusive build instructions for the fundraiser. The model includes features such as 801 Grand, the Iowa State Capitol and the Pappajohn Sculpture Park. The pieces to build the model are not included. “This unique opportunity not only supports architectural education in our schools but also allows our community to engage with the beauty of Des Moines in a fun and interactive way,” said Laura Porter, executive director of the Iowa Architectural Foundation, in a prepared statement. According to a news release, the IAF’s Architecture in the Schools program aims to inspire K-12 students by bringing architecture into the classroom and fostering an appreciation for the built environment. More information about the fundraiser is available on the IAF website.
