DOT approves $12.73 million for Southeast Connector
The Iowa Department of Transportation’s Iowa Transportation Commission approved a pair of grants in Greater Des Moines through the Revitalize Iowa’s Sound Economy local development grant program.
The commission approved up to $12.73 million to be made available to the city of Des Moines to assist in the construction of 5,400 feet of the Southeast Connector from Southeast 15th Street east to Southeast 23rd Street. The project is scheduled to be completed by July 2016.
The commission also approved a $5.29 million grant to the city of Waukee to assist in construction of about three miles of new roadway north from Ashworth Road to University Avenue as an extension of Alice’s Road. The project, scheduled to be completed by May 2013, is anticipated to provide access to 123 acres for corporate business offices.
