Cajun Fest is Saturday at Cowles Commons in downtown Des Moines. The festival will offer authentic Southern food, all-you-can-eat crawfish flown in from New Orleans, specialty drinks, live music and entertainment from NOLA Jazz Band, the Swampland Jewels and the Comancheros. Stephen Smith, a Louisiana native, started Cajun Fest as a backyard crawfish boil in 2018. Local vendors including SingleSpeed Brewing and Truman’s Pizza Tavern will offer special Cajun-inspired menus. Tickets for Saturday’s festivities, which run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., can be purchased on the event website.
