Drake University to celebrate Meredith Hall restoration with Oct. 12 event

The Iowa Architectural Foundation and the Drake University School of Journalism and Mass Communication have announced an event to celebrate the restoration of Drake University’s Meredith Hall, which was designed by architect Mies van der Rohe. Proceeds from Meredith Hall: A Mies Masterpiece Renewed will benefit the ongoing restoration efforts of the university’s 1965 architectural landmark, according to the release. The 7-9 p.m. event will include a social hour and docent stations; a Knoll Furniture display; a digital exhibit featuring Meredith Hall’s original blueprints and other artifacts; a BNIM Architects Q&A; special access to Scott Chapel; a screening of the documentary “The Mies van der Rohes”; and a chance to win a Florence Knoll hairpin table.
