Dress for Success Des Moines, a local nonprofit that serves women entering the workforce, announced the organization will be moving later this summer from its present location at 6000 Grand Ave. in Des Moines to 7025 Hickman Road, Suite 3, in Urbandale. The new location, to open within the next 60 days, will better accommodate clients, volunteers and incoming donations, Jody White, executive director for the Des Moines affiliate, said in a press release. “This move couldn’t come at a better time,” White said. “Last year changed everything — especially the workforce. Our mission is more important than ever to help women obtain employment. Sustained employment is the key to women rising to their fullest potential.” The organization supports women entering or reentering the workforce by first providing an interview-appropriate outfit and then a week’s business wardrobe once employment is achieved. Its mission goes beyond providing professional clothing. The staff and volunteers provide resume and interview assistance, skill-building and training, and continued support and encouragement through its Professional Working Group. Now entering its 10th year, Dress for Success Des Moines has served nearly 3,000 women, who support more than 6,000 children. The organization works with more than 60 referral partners across Central Iowa to serve every woman needing employment assistance, no matter their background or current circumstances.
