Drive Spotter Inc., an insurance technology company that graduated from last year’s inaugural Global Insurance Accelerator in Des Moines, has been selected as one of 12 startup companies that will participate in the Techstars Mobility Class of 2016 in Detroit. Drive Spotter, based in Omaha, was selected from applicants in 52 countries, according to a TechStars blog. Drive Spotter’s technology product analyzes real-time video data from commercial vehicles to help drivers avoid accidents and costly insurance claims. “We will work alongside eleven other companies in Ford Field, the home of the Detroit Lions,” said Chris Augeri, founder of Drive Spotter. “The Techstars mobility program will provide our team the opportunity to gain valuable feedback and customer insights on our realtime video search engine platform.” Techstars will make a $20,000 strategic investment in Drive Spotter, with the option of a $100,000 convertible note. The Techstars program opens on June 13 and wraps up with a public demo from the cohort companies on Sept. 8 at the Detroit Opera House.
