DSM International Airport awarded $4.7 million infrastructure grant

109 wordsAll Latest News, Statewide News, TransportationDes Moines International Airport will receive $4.7 million in federal funding to reconstruct an aircraft parking apron and a taxiway. The funding is part of $477 million in Airport Improvement Fund infrastructure grants announced today by the U.S. Department of Transportation. Two other Iowa airports — Perry Municipal Airport and the Clarion Municipal Airport — also received $1.5 million and $500,000 respectively in AIP grants for runway reconstruction and rehabilitation projects. A total of 276 grants were awarded to 264 airports in 44 states, the Pacific Islands, and the District of Columbia. Selected projects include runway reconstruction and rehabilitation, construction of firefighting facilities, and the maintenance of taxiways, aprons and terminals.
