I’m excited to announce that we have hired veteran journalist Anne Carothers-Kay to be our new managing editor. Anne will report directly to me and will primarily be in charge of working with reporters, planning stories and managing the production of our content. She is, however, a talented writer and will be contributing in that way as well. Her first day will be July 23.

Here’s a little background on Anne: She spent 28 years as an editor and reporter at the Des Moines Register, was the title editor for Meredith Corporation’s Heart-Healthy Living Magazine, and ventured into online journalism as the editor for Patch.com’s Urbandale website for the past year. I’ll let Anne introduce herself personally to our audience once she starts, but I’d like to encourage everyone to welcome her to our team.
