EMC Insurance joins national consortium pledging pay equity

The consortium is composed of companies that understand the importance of ensuring that all individuals are compensated equitably for equal work and experience and have an equal opportunity to contribute and advance in the workplace. By signing the White House Equal Pay Pledge, the Des Moines-based insurance group commits to analyzing gender pay annually, reviewing hiring and promotion processes and taking steps to reduce unconscious bias, among other efforts. “EMC is pleased to sign on to this pledge in recognition that business plays a crucial role in reducing the national pay gap,” said Beth Nigut, EMC executive vice president and chief people officer. “EMC believes its success in the future centers on having a diverse workforce, inclusive culture, and a strong presence in various communities and markets.” Last fall Nigut was named by the Business Record as the Davis Brown Law Firm HR Professional of the Year. EMC also recently signed on to the Iowa State Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Pledge, which has the goal of making the legal profession more diverse and equitable.
