Gov. Chet Culver yesterday presented the Iowa Freedom Award to four organizations in recognition of their support of their National Guard and Reserve employees. Recipients of the 2010 Iowa Freedom Awards in the large employer category are John Deere Des Moines Works in Ankeny and Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions in Muscatine. Receiving the small employer award was Muscatine-based Salzman International – Davenport. Iowa State University received the public-sector award. In addition to presenting the awards, Gov. Culver signed a proclamation designating Sept. 19-25 as Iowa Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Week.
