Energy program gives money for renewable fuels

The Iowa State Energy Program and American Recovery and Reinvestment Act yesterday awarded three grants totaling $933,000 for renewable fuels causes.

Magellan Pipeline Co. LP will receive $500,000 to install new equipment that will allow for the storage and blending of biodiesel at its Des Moines terminal. Kum & Go LC was awarded a $400,000 grant to install four or more ethanol blender pumps at 10 new Kum & Go stations. The Iowa Biodiesel Board will receive a $33,000 grant to educate diesel technicians on the benefits of biodiesel.
