European leaders work to keep Greece in the eurozone
German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Wednesday that she does not want to see Greece leave the euro behind and that Germany will do everything it can to keep Greece in the eurozone.
Merkel met yesterday with the new president of France, Francois Hollande, and said she agreed to consider ways to spur Greece’s economy, according to CNN.
The assurance from Merkel helped the U.S. stock market today, with the Standard & Poor’s 500 index expected to break a three-day losing streak, but confidence in the European economy has still not fully recovered, according to CNN.
