A monthly multicultural market on Sixth Avenue in Des Moines will be hosted from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, by the African-American Leadership Academy and the 6th Avenue Corridor, a designated Urban Neighborhood Main Street Program. The market, launched in August, features diverse ethnic and multicultural products — textiles, artisan goods and food — as well as music, dance and poetry readings. The market will be at the southwest corner of Sixth and Washington avenues.
