The Iowa State Fair set an attendance record this year on the strength of a strong showing on the last day. The fair had been running behind last year’s record pace up until then, but finished 189 over the old record with 2018 attendance of 1,130,260. Though figures on net proceeds won’t be in for a while, the Grandstand also set a record for attendance at 89,558. Thomas Rhett drew 15,775, Reba McEntire 14,102, and Florida Georgia Line 11,817. Last year’s biggest concert was Pentatonix at 10,643, a sellout before renovations added 4,000 seats this year. Don’t tell DART, but a record 75,554 cars parked on the fairgrounds.
