Des Moines Register: The family of a Marion boy who drowned at Adventureland Resort last year is seeking nearly $100 million from the state for allowing the ride to operate despite serious safety problems. The family of 11-year-old Michael Jaramillo alleges that negligence by the Iowa’s Division of Labor was the “proximate cause” of the boy’s drowning on the Raging River ride and injuries to other family members, claims obtained by the Des Moines Register under Iowa’s open records law show.
