The U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington said today that the Federal Communications Commission used the wrong legal authority when it established rules prohibiting broadband providers from slowing or blocking some Internet traffic, Bloomberg reported. The court sent the rules back to the commission for a possible rewrite. The commission’s open-Internet rules were challenged by Verizon Communications Inc.
