Feminism is the word of the year
Bizwomen.com: Merriam-Webster’s Word of the Year for 2017 is feminism, as it was the most-searched term throughout the past 12 months. Lookups of the word increased 70 percent compared with 2016. Merriam-Webster credited women-centric cultural events such as the Women’s March on Washington, D.C., the premiers of the blockbuster “Wonder Woman” and the television series “The Handmaid’s Tale,” and the rise of the #MeToo movement. Feminism has been included in Merriam-Webster’s annual Top 10 for the last few years, according to The New York Times.
