F&G, a leading provider of annuities and life insurance based in Des Moines, has announced the appointments of David Martin and Leena Punjabi as co-chief investment officers. In their newly appointed roles, Martin and Punjabi will be responsible for the strategic oversight of F&G’s investment portfolios, working in partnership with Blackstone Insurance Solutions. “With their highly collaborative styles and complementary skills and expertise, Dave and Leena are an ideal pair to lead our investment function,” said Chris Blunt, CEO of F&G. Martin joined F&G in 2011 as a senior investment analyst and was promoted to assistant vice president of investment strategy and design and vice president of investments during his tenure. He was part of a team that moved to Blackstone to help Blackstone Insurance Solutions manage F&G’s investment portfolio before returning to F&G in early 2019. Punjabi joined F&G in July 2019 as vice president of asset management. Previously she was a principal at Mercer, where she worked for 13 years providing investment advice to insurance companies and corporate pension plans. When F&G announced in February 2020 that it would merge into Fidelity National Financial, the companies said F&G would continue and extend its long-term investment management partnership with Blackstone Group, a multinational private equity firm. With headquarters at 801 Grand Ave., F&G has 245 local employees, according to the 2021 Book of Lists.
