Cedar Rapids-based insurance broker First MainStreet Insurance, an affiliate of TrueNorth Cos., added four new agencies across Iowa during the first quarter of 2023. First MainStreet acquired Lauer & Lauer Insurance, based in West Union. It was established and led by fourth-generation insurance agent Michael Lauer. The second acquisition was a private fold-in to one of the broker’s long-standing southern Iowa locations. First MainStreet has added Dubuque Insurance Services, located in Dubuque and established by Phil and Debbie Meyer in the mid-1990s. The Meyers’ nephew Thad Meyer has joined First MainStreet in ownership. Lastly, the broker announced the merger of Williamsburg-based Lillis Insurance Agency, which was founded in 1937. Dan Lillis is joining First Main Street in ownership. “With what we were seeing in the insurance industry, we knew we had to find a partner for the future,” Lillis said in a prepared statement. “After talking with several potential suitors, I felt that the First MainStreet model worked best for our agency, our employees, and most importantly, our clients and the communities we serve.” First MainStreet has more than 30 locations across Iowa.
