Five Iowa small businesses receive state grants from Main Street Iowa pitch competition

120 wordsAll Latest News, Economic Development, Retail and BusinessFive small businesses from Main Street Iowa districts shared $50,000 in state grants after pitching their expansion ideas to a panel of judges in the final round of Main Street Iowa’s Open 4 Business contest. Burlington’s Thyme & Spice Co., owned by Travis and Ashlyn Long, won the top prize – a $20,000 grant to expand their modern version of a spice and tea shop. They plan to use the money to introduce a refill program for their line of olive oils and vinegars. The four other finalists were:
- Goldfinch Tap + Eatery, Marion: $10,000.
- Holtz Service & Small Engine, Avoca: $10,000.
- BlueMoon Holistic Wellness, Nevada: $5,000.
- Corning Family Chiropractic, Corning: $5,000.
