The city of Des Moines will hold a public meeting on Nov. 9 for owners of single-family homes located in the Four Mile Creek 100-year flood plain and other 100-year flood plain areas that sustained damage during the August floods.

The city anticipates that the Federal Emergency Management Agency will provide funding for a 2010 Hazard Mitigation Grant Program.

The program would provide for a voluntary acquisition of substantially damaged single-family homes located in the flood plain. The meeting is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. next Tuesday at Goodrell Middle School, 3300 E. 29th St.
