Forbes names REG’s Warner to Businessperson of the Year list
The CEO of Ames-based Renewable Energy Group has been named to Forbes’ Businessperson of the Year list. Cynthia Warner joined REG in 2019. According to the Forbes announcement, under Warner’s guidance, REG is poised for a strong year with its stock reaching record highs. REG is North America’s largest biodiesel producer and has shown strong momentum in the effort to reduce carbon emissions, Forbes said. “That’s especially notable, as global lockdowns this year have dented energy demand and thrown business-as-usual into disarray,” Forbes said. Before joining REG, Warner served as executive vice president of operations for Andeaver, an integrated marketing, logistics and refining company. Before that, she served as executive vice president, strategy and business development of Andeavor. Before joining Andeavor, Warner served as president, CEO and chairman of the board of Sapphire Energy, a biofuels company. Warner was listed No. 20 on the Forbes list, which listed Elon Musk, co-founder of SpaceX and CEO of electric carmaker Tesla, in the top spot for the second straight year.
