What are your goals in your role at your company?
My goal is to partner with managers across Bankers Trust to help them position their team members in stretch assignments, and then watch them succeed. I believe effective leaders should challenge each other to ensure we aren’t unintentionally holding back our best and brightest because of factors like low-risk tolerance, lack of innovation or unconscious bias. I’m fortunate to be a part of an organization that supports this work.

What are your goals for community involvement?
Each of us has had to overcome adversity in our lives. I have let my personal experiences and the motto my parents lived by, “always give the most to those with the least,” guide the work I do in the community. One example of this is serving on the board of the Young Women’s Resource Center. I can identify with some of the issues these women are going through and can help them understand that they can still have successful lives and careers by overcoming the adversity they are facing at a young age.

What’s your biggest passion, and why?
Working with capable people who have lost their way or don’t know what’s next is my greatest passion. I’ve found that asking good questions and providing a touch of inspiration can refocus or re-energize. I will probably always see the best in others. It’s not out of ignorance or naiveté, it’s by choice. I truly believe that people are innately good, and when I’m able, I do my best to help others see that as well.

What is it that drives you?
While I’m a competitive person by nature, I’ve learned over time the only person I should compete with is yesterday’s version of myself. I am also altruistic, but whether giving at work or in the community, I’m best driven in situations where I can influence and directly impact results.       

Reasons she’s a Forty:

1.) Amanda is a board member for the Young Women’s Resource Center, sitting on its program committee and being involved with the center for the past five years.
2.) She was a human resources manager by age 27 and serves as the youngest executive committee member on her current team at Bankers Trust. 
3.) She serves on the Juvenile District Drug Court Collaborative, mentoring and recognizing youths for program completion and their successful re-entry into society.
4.) She has been a part of the Book Buddies, Power Read, or Everybody Wins! programs for the last four years, reading to young children in the classroom.
