Russ Frazier, president of Anawim Housing, is leaving the position he has held for the past 13 years, the nonprofit group announced.

Frazier joined the group in 2010 as the successor to Anawim founder Sister Stella Neil. Frazier’s last day with the group is June 30.

“With a strategic plan in place, I am confident Anawim Housing will continue to grow and innovate under the guidance of the leadership team and board of directors,” Frazier said in a prepared statement. “As I enter this next phase of my career I look forward to remaining active in affordable housing development and continuing to grow and develop some of my other professional interests.”

During Frazier’s tenure with Anawim, the group has added more than 800 units of affordable housing in the Des Moines area, supported hundreds of households through its supportive services and diversified the operating model.

Anawim Housing’s board of directors has started the selection process for the group’s next president. In addition, succession planning has been in process for the past year, including the development of an aggressive strategic plan to move the organization forward under new leadership, the group said in a news release.

An appreciation event to mark Frazier’s departure and the welcoming of a successor is planned for late June.
