GBCI launches LEED Fellows program
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED, was established in the late 1990s by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) as a benchmark for sustainable building projects. Yesterday, the Green Building Certification Institute, or GBCI, announced the establishment of a fellowship program intended to recognize LEED-accredited professionals with at least 10 years of experience who have made exceptional contributions to the green building community. “LEED Fellows will constitute an elite class of the world’s most distinguished green building professionals,” said Beth Holst, vice president of credentialing with the GBCI, a third-party administrator of project certifications associated with LEED construction. “Candidates are nominated by their peers, and the selection will be based on their body of work and the way it has contributed to advancing the field of green building.” The nomination period is open until Jan. 7.
