GEAR UP Iowa funding follows low-income students to college
Iowa College Aid has awarded nine colleges and universities in Iowa with GEAR UP Iowa Year 7 College Partner Grants totaling $929,289. GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs), administered by Iowa College Aid, is a federal program that prepares low-income students to succeed in college. Iowa College Aid works with 12 school districts to provide college access services and scholarships. GEAR UP Iowa follows students from seventh grade through their first year in college; most of the current GEAR UP Iowa students are in the high school class of 2020 and will enter college next fall.
