Many of you will work with newly appointed Iowa State University President Wendy Wintersteen and her staff and faculty on economic development, agricultural and water quality issues, innovation, workforce development, and other issues.

As she settles into life as ISU’s first female president, Wintersteen has been the subject of various profiles. Here are a couple that might help you. One is ISU’s own feature on Wintersteen, which notes some of her early plans and lets us know that her favorite vacation spot is Glenwood Springs, Colo.

Another is an in-depth article by the Des Moines Register’s Kathy Bolten, which explored both Wintersteen’s personal life and goals, and her controversies, including her strong ties to Iowa agricultural interests.

In the ISU release this week, Wintersteen said aid for students and raises for faculty and staff are high on her list.
