Dave Wilken

Global Atlantic Financial Group Ltd. has hired Dave Wilken as president of its Des Moines-based life insurance subsidiary, which does business as Accordia Life and Annuity Co. Most recently, Wilken was president of Individual Life for Voya Financial, where he worked for more than 20 years in various leadership roles. Wilken succeeds Mike Miller, who left Accordia Life to become president of a large independent life insurance and annuity distributor based in Kansas. Accordia Life issues indexed universal life, universal life and term life insurance policies that it distributes through independent agents across the United States. The company launched its operations in Des Moines in May 2014 and currently employs about 200 people, with a focus primarily on sales of universal indexed life insurance products. “I have been very impressed with Global Atlantic’s strategy and growth, as well as the experience and talent of the people there,” Wilken said. “I am happy to be part of the team, building on Global Atlantic’s product strength and distribution relationships.” Wilken will relocate to Des Moines from Minneapolis.
