Gold coin found in Salvation Army kettle

99 wordsAll Latest News, Nonprofits and PhilanthropySalvation Army counters found a South African Big Five Elephant gold coin, a 1-ounce solid gold coin minted in South Africa, while sorting through a kettle on Dec. 12. The coin was discovered by the son of Chrissy Brabandt, Salvation Army board member and manager of Scheels at Jordan Creek Mall in West Des Moines. According to a press release, once appraised, the coin is estimated to be worth approximately $2,800.
