A grand opening celebration is planned at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lillis Lofts, a new $10 million affordable multifamily housing complex located at 6313 Douglas Ave. in Urbandale. Construction of the three-story building began in fall 2020. The 1.25-acre property includes a playground, business center, community room and fitness center. Thirty-two percent of the building’s studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartment units are leased. TWG and Dream Catcher partnered to develop the project. TWG is an Indianapolis-based real estate development company that specializes in commercial, market-rate, affordable and senior housing developments. Dream Catcher is a Des Moines-area nonprofit organization formed in 1996 to build housing for low-income people and those with disabilities. Lillis Lofts is the first housing project in Urbandale to meet “affordable” designations in over 20 years. Units are available for tenants earning between 30% and 60% of the area median income. The building also includes market-rate units.
