Grassley, Ernst join call for Trump meeting on biofuels
Reuters reports that U.S. Sens Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst have joined other Corn Belt Republicans to ask President Donald Trump for a meeting to fight a move to cut the costs of the biofuels industry to oil interests. “Let there be no doubt — the consequences of a waiver would be severe and immediate across the Midwest, impacting farmers and biofuel stakeholders alike,” the senators wrote. Trump has spoken privately of capping the price of compliance credits under the Renewable Fuel Standard, known as RINS. Joining the Iowans in the letter were Sens. John Thune of South Dakota, Roy Blunt of Missouri and Deb Fischer of Nebraska.
