Grinnell College kicks off $175 million fundraising campaign
Grinnell College has officially embarked on a $175 million fundraising campaign, its first comprehensive campaign in 20 years and the most ambitious in the college’s history. The campaign, which began with a quiet phase in 2013, will encompass all gifts made to the college through June 30, 2021. “We have seen how Grinnell graduates have brought leadership and intellect into communities around the globe, and how they infuse a focus on social justice into everything they do,” said Connie Wimer, a Grinnell College trustee who hosted a campaign launch event last week in Des Moines. “The world needs more Grinnellians, and this campaign is about equipping future generations of Grinnell students with robust and diverse opportunities that will allow them to serve the common good.” Wimer is the chairman of Business Publications Corp., which publishes the Business Record. A series of special Grinnell campaign launch events – led by alumni, students, faculty, staff and Grinnell College President Raynard Kington – will be held in 11 cities during the next year. The private, liberal arts college was founded in Grinnell in 1846.
