Groundbreaking for new Des Moines airport terminal set for October

137 wordsAll Latest News, TransportationThe groundbreaking ceremony for the new terminal at the Des Moines International Airport will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. on Oct. 4. Due to construction being active, the event will not be open to the public. In July, the Des Moines Airport Authority Board voted to approve a $445 million budget for the first phase of the new terminal. It will be built east of the existing terminal near Fleur Drive in an effort to better handle an increase in air travel. The total cost, including second and third phases, could reach $770 million.
