This award recognizes individuals or groups that have made significant contributions to improving health equity in Iowa through education, advocacy, systems change or program innovation. In her career, Trefz has worked to expand Medicaid coverage for new moms to one year postpartum. She received the award on April 1 as part of the Public Health Conference of Iowa held in Des Moines.
