Low-income individuals and families can get help paying their water bills as part of the new federal Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program. According to a news release, IMPACT Community Action Partnership started taking applications for the program today. The program is part of an effort to address financial needs related to the COVID-19 pandemic. It seeks to help households that have fallen behind on water bills, are facing disconnection or have already been disconnected. Payment will be made directly to water companies and utilities, and cover past-due charges, fees and taxes for drinking and wastewater services. The application period is open year-round, and the program will run through Sept. 30, 2023, or until funds run out. Individuals or families interested in applying can visit the IMPACT Community Action Partnership website, or call 515-518-4770 to schedule a phone appointment.
